Frequently Asked Questions

  • We practice co-creation, not extraction. That means you're not a "research subject" - you're leading the direction while we handle the technical work. We start with what communities need, not what funders require, and we build your capacity throughout rather than just delivering a report. The data and tools belong to you, and we design everything to serve organizing goals, not just compliance.

  • Absolutely. We specifically design our services for grassroots organizations. Retainer relationships offer flexible, right-sized support that adapts to your capacity. Our 9-week course is built for teams with limited time. We work around your schedule and meet you where you are - that's the whole point.

  • That's completely normal and a great place to start. Schedule a free consultation and we'll talk through what you're trying to accomplish, what capacity you have, and what would actually be useful. Sometimes organizations think they need a full evaluation when what would serve them better is a focused data framework or staff training. We'll figure it out together.

  • Both. We're based in Utah but work with organizations nationally. Most work happens virtually, but we travel for key moments like community convenings, intensive work sessions, or report-back events when it makes sense for the project.

  • We work with all kinds of grassroots and community-based organizations. What connects our clients isn't the type of program you run, but that you're community-based and need support understanding and using the data you're already collecting. If you're a grassroots organization trying to make sense of your data, build accountability systems that serve your community, or demonstrate impact without losing sight of your mission, we can help.

  • It depends on what you need and what your budget allows. We price based on scope, timeline, and your organization's capacity. We work on a sliding scale to keep our services accessible for grassroots organizations, and we're honest about what's feasible at different investment levels. The best way to figure out cost is to talk about your needs and budget openly - we'll work together to find an arrangement that's sustainable for both of us.

  • It depends. Our 9-week course is exactly that - nine weeks. Contract projects typically run 6-18 months depending on scope. Retainer relationships are ongoing and month-to-month after an initial commitment period. We build realistic timelines that account for your capacity and the complexity of the work.

  • We're certified as a service-disabled veteran-owned small business in Utah, with federal women-owned and minority-owned certifications in process. This can be helpful if you're pursuing government funding - partnering with certified small businesses can strengthen procurement applications and meet contracting requirements. But even if you're not chasing government contracts, it matters to us that our business reflects our values about who should be leading this work.
